We have experienced another challenging month with members of the Purdys community experiencing loss and damage due to extreme weather. These wildfires and floods, on top of the day-to-day stresses, can be extremely difficult to manage. While some can retreat and go on vacation to destress and disengage from these challenges at least for a time, this is only a short-term or occasional fix. It can be invaluable in difficult periods of our lives and challenging moments to have a variety of coping tools to help us strengthen our mindset, relieve mental stress and recharge our battery.
Our newsletter, blog, and social media channels often share information about the tangible benefits of working-out where we might focus on our heart rate, intensity, and lifting techniques, which often we associate with increased physical strength, muscle mass or decreased body fat. However, movement at a variety of intensities also has the ability to shift your mood, clear your mind, lower stress and reset your mindset. Movement is Medicine yet it is not a stand-alone solution. We would like you to also consider the term working-in which is focused on creating a calm mind, increasing inner strength and the ability to recalibrate. Working-in has tremendous benefits and when practiced regularly you can expect to build a new skill set to deal with anxious moments, emotional situations, difficult people, life changes low motivation and poor moods. Working-In activities include mindful movement, breathwork, meditation and other, self-care and overall well-being strategies.
When you combine Work-out and Work-in education and activities you will be rewarded with significant improvements in your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. At PWFC we offer a variety of Working-In activities in addition to the Work-outs we are known for. Don’t hesitate to reach out to our fitness and wellness team to help you build a Working-in plan.
We’re here to help.
