Catherine or “Cat” as we call her, joined PWFC in July of 2016. She was looking for more variety in equipment and classes that her smaller local gym did not have.

Over the past three years, she joined several specialty programs like Pilates, Exhale, Girl Power and Kettlebell TnT. Her regular participation in these programs resulted in reaching her goals of increased upper body strength, better core conditioning and improved posture. Cat increased her confidence at the gym and branched out to other group fitness classes like TBS and Drumming Dance Fusion.

In May of 2018, Cat was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 33. News that no woman wants to hear. However, it did not stop her from working out up to and in-between her surgeries. She remained positive, healthy and focused on beating the challenges that lay ahead of her. In January of 2019, she returned to the gym on an unstoppable mission to improve her strength, mobility, and get back to a regular fitness routine.

“I am determined, more than ever, to gain my strength back in 2019. Returning to the gym in January gave me a sense of normalcy in my day to day life. With a focus on upper body strength/cardio & a commitment to workout 3-4 times a week, I feel like I am well on my way to being the strongest version of me: both mentally & physically. The comeback is always bigger than the setback.”
