As life evolves quite often we see our priorities shift from personal endeavours to careers and kids. In many cases fitness is one of those things that gets neglected in a busy life but that is not the case for this months featured members.

Dave and Iashi Holder have been PWFC members for over 5 years and are great examples of how we can not only continue to pursue but also be successful in achieving fitness goals while balancing family life and busy careers.

The club is a home base and a compliment for their training, but finding work life balance can be a challenge and requires planning with young children. There is no secret formula but they shared a few of the way they support each other’s efforts.

  • “Running at lunch helps, leaving the morning and evenings are free to do family stuff”
  • “However, the lunch hour only allows so much time, so running to or from work sometimes to get a longer run is a good way to get the run in using time that would partially be spent commuting anyway”
  • “We used to trade off weekend mornings for long runs – Dave would do Saturday, and I’d do Sunday.  Then for a while we would get a babysitter on Saturday mornings, and both go running at the same time.”
  • “Sometimes one of us will go run to somewhere (coffee shop, swimming pool), and the rest of the family will meet at the destination, and then carry on with our day.”
